Sci-Fi Now Real World

I wrote an article a few months ago in which I stated, “People watch Minority Report and think that it would be cool to have a computer like that. The good news for them is that it’s not going to take until 2054 to get one—the hand motion control part, not the predicting the future.”

What I didn’t realize is that when I wrote those words it was actually already here.

What I didn’t realize is that when I wrote those words it was actually already here.

It took a few months for TED to post this, but John Underkoffler demoed the next step into what computers will be at the 2010 conference.

This, in conjunction with SixthSense, will change the way people use computers. With this technology incorporated into our homes, offices, schools, it will be like having the ability to carry around a 50 inch monitor everywhere you go.

There’s no more, “It’s a really cool video, I’ll e-mail it to you.” Just pull it up and show it.
