Blogs Make Money, Diaries Don’t

Some talk flared up a few weeks about how blogs are dead, but that’s really nothing new.

What these people are actually referring to is diary-style blogs that people just write about their lives in general (similar to, but not exactly like this one). It used to be called a diary or journal; teenage girls would put little locks on them and hide them from their siblings in the dresser of their nightstand. At some point, people moved them online and assumed they would be interesting to everyone.

They aren’t. To paraphrase one of my teachers, “Nobody gives a shit what you think about everything.”

However, narrow it down, talk about a specific topic, and blogs are just as profitable as they ever were.
