I’m done watching numbers. Every few days I check how many visitors my blog, The Ytse Times, has had. It ranges from 400 to 1000. It’s extremely humbling to see that, but I don’t obsess over it.
Actually, I don’t even care anymore.
It would be dumb to ignore my community, but the whole numbers game is stupid. The only feedback that matters is that coming from people—comments and tweets.
If a company wants to advertise with me I won’t be able to give them a hit count. What I can tell them is that I started the site for a few reasons, which I will keep secret, and I don’t need these kinds of numbers to tell me I’m succeeding.
And it’ll save me $3 a month.
