Smarter On Spring Break

The New York Times ran an article today that described college kids on spring break cutting back on their wild behavior due to its potential damage to their online reputation.

Interesting and encouraging stuff, considering it is exactly what I wrote about a few weeks ago. It seems people are figuring it out.

One solution of course would be simply not to pull out your cell phone, but it we have apparently accepted that technology is already to the point of being unavoidable.

Still, there is room for improvement. From the article:

Asked if she would ever do anything some could view as inappropriate, like join a wet T-shirt contest, she said, “No way. I would never do that because everybody has phones these days.”

So if nobody had a phone she would jump right in there? The better answer is “No way. That would not be a mature thing to do.”

But hey, baby steps.
